Bid the Moon - "Bidders"
(La Saboteur X Making Her Bid)
2002 Thoroughbred - 16 Hands
Bred By: Swaggert Stables, Washington
Seal bay rabicano Thoroughbred mare with crescent star and matching hind coronets with ermine spotting.
Bidders retired sound from a racing career that included five second-place and one third-place finishes. A Seattle Slew granddaughter, she has beautiful self-carriage, a remarkable silhouette, and shows great elevation in all three gaits. Very balanced front and rear, her drive and extension are breath-taking for the power and elegance of movement.
She has strong, clean legs and hard feet that have required no shoeing since her retirement from the track. She has a skunk tail and is roaned at the flanks, indicating her rabicano genes. With her noble head and thick, wavy mane and tail, she looks Baroque and not weedy like some Thoroughbreds. We’re proud to announce that she passed her RPSI (Rheinland Pfalz Saar ) inspection in 2008!

Her sire, La Saboteur never raced, but sired winners of almost $2 million dollars, including Horse of the Year and Washington 3 Year Old Champion. La Saboteur was sired by Triple Crown winner, Seattle Slew, who brought home winnings in excess of $1.2 million dollars. Seattle Slew sired over 90 stakes winners, including five who won more than a million dollars themselves. La Saboteur’s dam, Exclusive Fir, was a race winner herself, and dam of six winners.
Bidder’s dam, Making Her Bid, was the winner of three races, and had six other finishes in the money. Her sire, Hail Bold King, was a stakes winner of over $760,000. His offspring went on to win more than $2.4 million. Making Her Bid’s dam, Quietness, was a winner herself, and the dam of five winners. As you can see, Bidders comes from lines that can perform on the track, and then make their mark in the breeding shed.
Besides Seattle Slew, she has Thoroughbreds greats such as Raise A Native, Bold Ruler, Hail To Reason, Native Dancer, Turn-to and Nasrullah all appearing at least twice in the first five generations. Further back, you’ll find four crosses to Man O’ War, two to War Admiral, a cross to Count Fleet, Polynesian, and several to the interestingly-marked sires Bend Or and The Tetrarch.
For her first foal, she was bred to Ruben O, a gorgeous 16.1 Hand Dutch Warmblood owned by Gina Benson Cook of Centaur Farms. Bidders gave us an amazing filly who received a Silver Premium at her RPSI inspection!
